Llysfaen Community Council Grants

Section 137 Grant Policy
Under section 137 a Community Council has the power to use its funds to issue grants to community groups. There are laws governing what Councils are able to spend funds on, and so the Community Council is careful to ensure that it remains legal, and that good accounting practices are followed.
The community Council has set the following criteria as its requirements for a small grants.
1. The applicant must be a constituted group with its own bank account, and be able to provide evidence of this.
2. The applicants’ project must be of benefit to the local community, and cover capital expenses that are not the statutory requirement of any other body to provide.
3. The applicant must demonstrate 12 months of good financial management by presenting 1 years annual accounts.
4. The grant application form must be completed and signed by the relevant parties, and submitted within the deadlines in preparation for the meeting.
Section 137 Grants Process
The grant process opens in February, and runs to 1 week prior to the March meeting of Council, which is held on the 2nd Monday of the month.
A decision regarding any grant applications will be made during the March meeting, unless further information is required.
A grant application may be made outside of the opening window for an emergency purpose, for capital expenditure.
The Council does not fund revenue expenditure.
